The appropriate time for releasing your butterflies is up to you and may depend on the nature of your event. For wedding releases ~ the butterflies are usually released as the Bride and Groom exit from the ceremony…creating a beautiful cloud of fluttering wings.
For the welfare of the butterflies ~ butterflies are always to be released outside during daylight hours (at least one hour before sunset, so they can find food and shelter for the night). They should not be released in heavy rain or strong winds.
To provide a cue for the release of your butterflies, you may like to gather your guests and read out the popular Butterfly Legend below. (A complimentary copy accompanies all butterfly orders). Alternatively, you may like to write your own dedication as an announcement, or your butterflies may simply be released spontaneously. It's up to you.

If you desire a special wish to come true, whisper it to a butterfly
Since butterflies make no sound, they can
not tell the wish to anyone
So by making your wish and releasing the butterfly
your wish will be taken to the heavens to be granted
Please come and join us...
As the butterflies are released whisper your
own special wishes!

We specialise in naturally breeding and raising beautiful healthy Monarch butterflies (also known as the ‘Wanderer’ butterfly). All of our butterflies are raised under the best natural conditions at our farm and gardens…we have no higher priority than the well being of our butterflies.
The Monarch butterfly is the most spectacular butterfly for releasing they are large and colourful and their flight pattern is graceful. They are also ‘people friendly’ (ie. they are not be afraid of humans), strong and travel well. Plus they are native to all areas of Australia, so will naturally live out their lifecycle in any habitat in which they are released.
Our breeding and releasing techniques are based on our experience training in America, where releasing butterflies has now been popular for over 10 years and it has been proven that the most spectacular and suitable butterfly for releasing is the Monarch. Our own experience and researching over the last couple of years here in Australia has also come to the same conclusion, that the Monarch is the best butterfly for releasing. If of interest ~ you may wish to visit some of the websites of the many butterfly farms in America (there are well over 150 butterfly farms across the USA!)

Other Butterfly Species?
Different species of butterflies all have different characteristics, many of which make them unsuitable for an effective and spectacular Butterfly Release. In particular, many butterflies have a very “darty” and fast flight pattern which makes them difficult to see and they will disappear very quickly. Whilst other butterflies are sensitive to shock and not suitable for release packaging.
So even though different species of butterflies may be native to your area ~ you still need to consider whether they will be effective and suitable for releasing (in fact, not many species are suitable). Whereas, we are confident that the Monarch with its large wings, vibrant colours and graceful gliding flight pattern will provide a spectacular release beyond your expectations.
If different species of butterflies are of particular interest, we are happy to discuss the characteristics of various butterflies with you further ~ to discuss please contact us.

All butterfly orders come with easy to follow instructions so that you can care and look after your butterflies and to ensure that your butterfly release meets your expectations.
Also included in our instructions, are photography tips to assist capturing the special moment of your butterfly release on film.
In all the excitement of a special occasion - it is recommended that a designated person be given the responsibility of taking care of your butterflies and for ensuring that these instructions are followed.
There is nothing difficult involved ~ releasing butterflies at your event is easy ~ although just with any aspect of an event, having a designated person will ensure the smooth running of your butterfly release and one less thing for you to think about.
